If recent news is to be believed, it looks like the SUSSEX ROYAL trade marks will no longer be of relevance to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Reports suggest that the Queen will not allow future use of SUSSEX ROYAL or sussexroyal.com given that Harry and Meghan will no longer be royalty.
A re-brand may be in order!
As there have been a number of subsequent 'SUSSEX ROYAL', or similar, trade mark applications filed by third parties in the last few months, it will be interesting to see who will be taking action against these applications (if the relevant registries allow the marks to proceed to publication).
But the "royal" part of their Sussex Royal moniker has proved to be a sticking point so far, with a royal source indicating that the use of the word "in this context, needed to be reviewed". The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday that the couple would no longer be able to use the Sussex Royal brand. The royal source added: "Discussions are still ongoing."
