The UK will leave the EU at 11pm today.
However, we will be in a transition period until 31 December 2020. Therefore, in terms of trade marks and designs, nothing changes tonight. The UK will continue to be a part of the EUTM and RCD system until the end of the transition period. This also means that UK trade mark attorneys will continue to act before the EUIPO.
For further information as to what will happen after the end of the transition period, please see https://www.kemplittle.com/blog/brexit-no-deal-trademarks/.
UK legal representatives continue to have the right to represent clients before the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and all EU Trade Marks and Registered Community Designs continue to apply in the UK.
